How to get a WhatsApp assistant to answer with your website’s information

With Ugo, an AI assistant with its own WhatsApp number, you just add the website’s address on the portal or ask for it in the chat: Ugo reads the pages in a few minutes and from then on answers the team’s questions about products, prices and warranties, telling you which page the information comes from. You can also add the websites of clients, suppliers and competitors.

Why connect Company websites (knowledge) to WhatsApp

The answers a sales rep or customer-facing colleague needs are often already written down, on the website: a product’s features, the warranty, the terms. But searching for them on your phone, page after page, while the customer waits, is awkward. And on a competitor’s website it’s even worse.

With Ugo, websites become answers: “what warranty do we give on the X200?”, “what’s new from our competitor?”. Ugo searches the pages it has read, answers in a few lines and tells you which page the information comes from. Everyone on the team asks from their own WhatsApp.

How to connect Company websites (knowledge) to WhatsApp, step by step

It takes a few minutes. You do the first two steps only once, then you connect as many apps as you like.

  1. 1

    Create your Ugo account

Sign up at app.ciaougo.com with your email and password and enter your company name.

  2. 2

    Link your WhatsApp

In Settings → WhatsApp, generate a code and send it in a chat to Ugo’s number: from then on Ugo recognises your number.

  3. 3

Switch on the skill for the team

On the Ugo portal, open Skills and, on the company websites skill (Knowledge), tap “Turn on for the team”. The owner or an admin does it, once for everyone.

  4. 4

    Add the websites

Tap “Manage websites”, type the address and choose the depth: how many clicks away from the address Ugo follows links, from 1 to 5. Or message Ugo on WhatsApp “learn the website …” and confirm.

  5. 5

    Wait while it reads

It takes a few minutes. On the portal you can see how many pages it has read; if you added the website in the chat, Ugo messages you on WhatsApp when it’s finished.

  6. 6

    Ask a question on WhatsApp

Ask something that’s on the website, for example “What warranty do we give on the X200?”: Ugo answers and points you to the page.

What you can do with Company websites (knowledge) on WhatsApp

Answer a customer on the spot

Features, warranties, terms: ask Ugo instead of searching the website on your phone.

Compare yourself with a competitor

Add their website and ask about the differences from your product: Ugo compares the two sources.

Arrive prepared at a client’s

Add the client’s website before the visit and ask what they do, what they sell and to whom.

A helping hand for new starters

Whoever joins the team asks Ugo what’s written on your website, without bothering their colleagues.

The first messages to send

  • What warranty do we give on the X200?
  • What’s new from our competitor?
  • Learn the Smith & Sons website
Ugoonline
  1. What warranty do we give on the X200?

  2. On your website: a 5-year warranty on the X200, extendable to 7 with the service contract, and a call-out within 24 hours. Source: yourwebsite.co.uk/x200

  3. Learn the Robinson Interiors website too, robinsoninteriors.co.uk

  4. I’ll add robinsoninteriors.co.uk to the team’s websites: I’ll read the home page and the pages linked from it. It’ll take a few minutes. Shall I go ahead?

What Ugo doesn’t do (yet)

  • It doesn’t answer your customers: it answers you and the people on your team, each from their own WhatsApp.
  • It only reads public pages, visible without logging in.
  • It doesn’t notice by itself when a website changes: you have it read the site again from the portal with one click.
  • If a piece of information isn’t on the websites, Ugo tells you rather than making it up.

Other ways to connect Company websites (knowledge) to WhatsApp

Ugo isn’t the only option. Here are the most common alternatives, and when they make sense.

Customer chatbots on WhatsApp Business

Some services use the WhatsApp Business API to answer customers based on your website. They have a different purpose: they serve customers, while Ugo helps you and your team.

A general-purpose AI assistant

You can paste a link into an AI assistant and ask questions, but you start from scratch every time, outside WhatsApp and without a set of websites shared by the team.

The website’s search

It works if you know what to look for and you’re at your computer, but it gives you a list of pages, not an answer.

Questions about Company websites (knowledge) and WhatsApp

How much does it cost? Is there a free version?

There’s no free version. Ugo costs €50 a month per person (or €550 a year), excl. VAT, with company websites and every other skill included.

What websites can I add?

Any public website: yours, and those of your clients, suppliers and competitors. Ugo reads the pages accessible without logging in, and the websites you add are used by the whole team.

Does Ugo make up answers if it can’t find the information?

Ugo answers with what it finds on the websites and tells you the source; if the information isn’t there, it says so.

Can Ugo answer customers who message on WhatsApp?

No. Ugo is the assistant for you and your team: it answers the people on your team, not customers.
