Calls while you’re working
The phone rings while you’re inside a consumer unit. You don’t answer, the customer rings back, then texts. By the end of the day you have ten requests to piece together and no idea who was waiting for what.
A fault to fix, a consumer unit to wire, three quotes to send by tonight. Ugo keeps your job diary, finds documents and installation certificates, updates customers from your number and answers you by voice while you’re up a ladder. It asks you to confirm before every action.
An app for electricians has to work with your hands full and your phone in your pocket. That’s why Ugo works on WhatsApp: send it a voice note from the van or the site, and it uses the diary, email, contacts and job folders you’ve connected. No new job management software to learn: it’s just one more contact in your chats.
An electrician’s day is a mix of quick call-outs and long jobs: an RCD that keeps tripping, a full rewire in a flat, maintenance for a block of flats, solar panels or an EV charger to install. In between come the quotes, customers ringing, the electrical wholesaler and, when the job’s done, the Electrical Installation Certificate with its schedule of test results. It all goes through your phone, and the paperwork is left for the evening.
Ugo doesn’t design installations or replace your inspection and testing: measurements, technical decisions and signing the certificate stay with you, to BS 7671. Ugo handles everything around it: it books and moves appointments, works out the day’s route, drafts messages to customers and fills in your quote templates. Everything it sends or creates goes out after your “Confirm”.
You know how to do the technical work. It’s everything else that piles up.
The phone rings while you’re inside a consumer unit. You don’t answer, the customer rings back, then texts. By the end of the day you have ten requests to piece together and no idea who was waiting for what.
You’ve done the site visit and taken the measurements, but the quote gets written in the evening. Meanwhile the customer has asked two other firms, and whoever replies first often gets the job.
An urgent fault lands in the middle of the morning and the rest of the day has to be reshuffled. Every change has to be passed on to customers, one by one, while you drive.
Installation certificates, circuit charts, photos of the installation, product data sheets: they’re needed years later, when the customer sells the house or wants an extension. Finding them in your phone’s camera roll is a nightmare.
Quick messages, voice notes too, between one job and the next.
A customer’s RCD keeps tripping. You send Ugo a voice note: it checks your diary, tells you where there’s a gap, creates the appointment and drafts the message for the customer, which goes out from your WhatsApp Business after you confirm.

Got it: Mrs Ferris, 14 Station Road, RCD tripping. Today you’re free from 14:00 to 15:30, between the Elmwood Court flats and the Gallagher quote. I’ll create “Ferris fault – RCD” at 14:00 and tell her you’ll arrive between 2 and 2:30. Shall I go ahead?
After the site visit you dictate the items to Ugo: lighting points, sockets, consumer unit, labour. It fills in your quote template on Drive with the customer’s details and saves it in the job folder, ready to send.

Gallagher quote: full rewire of a two-bed flat, 18 lighting points, 22 sockets, new consumer unit, 3 days for two of us
I’ve filled in the “Rewire quote” template for Mark Gallagher, 3 Church Lane, with the items you gave me and the prices from your price list in the folder. Shall I save it as a PDF in “Jobs/Gallagher” and email it to him?
A customer is selling their house and asks for the Electrical Installation Certificate for the work you did years ago. Ask Ugo: it searches the job folders and sends it to you in the chat, or emails it to the customer once you give the OK.

Find me the EIC for the Bates flat on Victoria Street
Found it: “EIC Bates 22 Victoria Street.pdf”, in Jobs/2021/Bates, with the schedule of test results and the circuit chart attached. Shall I email it to Laura Bates?
In the morning you ask Ugo for the best order for your jobs. It suggests the fastest route with the traffic at that moment, and if an appointment falls through it recalculates in seconds.

What order should I do today’s jobs in?
With the traffic right now, starting from the unit: 1. Elmwood Court flats: 12 min 2. Ferris, 14 Station Road: 8 min 3. Gallagher, 3 Church Lane: 15 min About 35 minutes of driving in total, 20 less than the order in your diary.
Between sites, faults and quotes, with an office assistant in your phone.
Ugo sends you the day’s jobs in the best order for your route.
A call comes in about a fault. You send a voice note and Ugo finds a gap in the diary and lets the customer know once you’ve given the OK.
At the wholesaler, you ask Ugo for the materials list for the Gallagher job, which it saved in the customer’s folder.
The afternoon customer asks to move: Ugo moves the appointment and tells the others you’ll be there earlier.
You dictate the items from the site visit and Ugo fills in the quote from your template.
A scheduled task reminds you of quotes sent more than a week ago with no reply.
The tools you already use: Ugo makes them reachable from WhatsApp.
Customers get confirmations and updates from the number they already know. You keep using the app on your phone and see everything that goes out.
On Google Drive or OneDrive: quotes, photos, circuit charts, installation certificates. Ugo tells you what’s there and what’s missing, and fills in templates with {{client}} and {{address}}.
Google Calendar or Outlook for your jobs, your contacts to find a customer’s number from just their name. Ugo reads and writes, always after you confirm.
With Company websites, Ugo reads the pages of electrical equipment manufacturers and summarises a product’s stated specifications, with the page it took them from.
The most useful Ugo features for this job, starting with the first one to turn on. You switch them on from the portal in a few minutes.
It depends on what you need: for certificates and calculations there’s dedicated software, often provided through your competent person scheme, and for the books there’s the accounting software your accountant recommends. Ugo covers the part that eats up your days: diary, customers, quotes and documents, all from WhatsApp and by voice too, without installing anything new.
The Electrical Installation Certificate is completed and signed by whoever designed, installed and inspected and tested the work, and they’re responsible for it. For notifiable domestic work, building control notification usually goes through your competent person scheme. Ugo can fill in your own templates with the customer and job details, find certificates you’ve already issued and remind you which finished jobs still don’t have one in the folder. You check the technical content.
Almost: a voice note is all it takes. Ugo understands voice messages in English and replies in writing. For anything that sends something to a customer, it asks you to confirm with a button, so nothing goes out by mistake.
If you connect your WhatsApp Business, messages go out from your number, with the text you approved. The customer replies there, as usual, and you see the conversation in the app on your phone.
Ugo is paid per person, monthly or yearly, and you can try it before you decide. There’s no long tie-in: if you no longer need it, you cancel from the portal.
Associations, bodies and official sources for the sector: external websites, independent of Ugo.
Connect your diary, email and job folders in a few minutes. Missed calls become appointments, site visits become quotes.
