How to connect Google Drive to WhatsApp
Google Drive has no direct connection to WhatsApp. The simplest way is Ugo, an AI assistant with its own WhatsApp number: sign in with your Google account on the portal, choose the folder it can work in, and from then on you ask it in the chat what your files say and have it create documents, once you confirm.
Why connect Google Drive to WhatsApp
A client’s contract, the latest proposal, the price list: they’re all on Drive, but when you’re out and need a clause or a figure, finding the file on your phone and scrolling to the right spot is slow.
By connecting Google Drive to WhatsApp with Ugo, you ask “what does the Harper contract say about cancellation?” and get the answer with the name of the file it comes from. And if you need a new proposal, Ugo prepares it from your template and creates it after your “Confirm”.
How to connect Google Drive to WhatsApp, step by step
It takes a few minutes. You do the first two steps only once, then you connect as many apps as you like.

Create your Ugo account
Sign up at app.ciaougo.com with your email and password and enter your company name.

Link your WhatsApp
In Settings → WhatsApp, generate a code and send it in a chat to Ugo’s number: from then on Ugo recognises your number.

Switch on Google Drive
On the Ugo portal, open Skills and tap Connect on the Google Drive card.

Sign in with Google
Choose your Google account and allow Ugo to read your files and create documents.

Choose the folder
Pick the folder Ugo can work in, “Clients” for example: it reads and creates files only inside it and its subfolders. If you prefer, choose “Use my whole Drive”.

Ask for a file or what a document says: if Ugo answers quoting the file, the connection works.

Proposals and contracts from your templates
Prepare a template with placeholders like {{client}}: Ugo creates a filled-in copy with the details you give it, in your own layout.
Folders and notes on documents
It creates a folder for a new client or adds a paragraph to an existing document, once you confirm.
Tables you can read on your phone
If you ask for a spreadsheet, Ugo sends you the table as an image, neat and easy to read.

What Ugo doesn’t do (yet)
- It doesn’t delete files or folders.
- It doesn’t edit Google Sheets: it reads them and, if you like, sends them to you as an image.
- It doesn’t send you files as WhatsApp attachments: it tells you what’s in them.
- It can’t see files outside the folder you chose.
Other ways to connect Google Drive to WhatsApp
Ugo isn’t the only option. Here are the most common alternatives, and when they make sense.
The Google Drive app and shared links
On your phone you can open a file and paste its link into a WhatsApp chat, but finding and reading it is still your job.
AI assistants inside Google Workspace
With some plans Google offers an assistant that summarises documents inside Drive and Docs, but it doesn’t work from WhatsApp.
Automations with Zapier or Make
They can alert you on WhatsApp when a new file appears in a folder, but you need the WhatsApp Business API and some set-up, and they don’t answer questions about the contents.

Can I connect Google Drive to WhatsApp for free?
Google and WhatsApp don’t offer a direct connection. Ugo costs €50 a month per person (or €550 a year), excl. VAT, with Google Drive and every other app included.
Can Ugo see my whole Google Drive?
Only if you choose so. When you connect Google Drive you pick a folder: Ugo works only inside it and its subfolders.
How do templates work?
Prepare a Google Doc with placeholders in double curly brackets, such as {{client}} or {{amount}}. Ask Ugo to use it and it creates a filled-in copy with the details you give it.
Can Ugo delete my files?
No. Ugo reads, creates and edits documents, always once you confirm, but it doesn’t delete files.
